Craig,
You are right. AF hOU means "from the time when" or "since".
TWi LOGWi however has to be taken with SULLABWN and should mean something
like "in the mind", "in reasoning". The object of SULLABWN and hAQROISAS is
PASAN THN EUDAIMONIAN.
I hope you can now understand the translations you used. My English is not
so good that I would venture to make my own translation here.

Onderwerp: [B-Greek] More basil questions.. AF hOU GEGONASIN ANQRWPOI TWi
LOGWi
I am having some difficulty with translating part of a sentence from the 2nd
chapter of PROS TOUS NEOUS hOPWS AN EX hELLHNIKWN WFELOINTO LOGWN:
.. hOTI PASAN hOMOU THN AF hOU GEGONASIN ANQRWPOI TWi LOGWi TIS SULLABWN KAI
EIS hEN AQROISAS EUDAIMONIAN ..
The particular difficulty is with AF hOU GEGONASIN ANQRWPOI TWi LOGWi.
Basicly I have this: "that anyone who collected together and gathered into
one all fortune from ???"
I couldn't really notice an antecedent for hOU, so best I can figure it is
neuter in a general sense (Liddel and Scott on perseus say this can happen
in Attic; also has EX hOU as 'from the time when', perhaps AF hOU is doing
the same thing?).
So if I have "from the time when men came into being", I am still not sure
what to do with Twi LOGWi.. Is it 'by the word'? In the two translations I
found on the net for this passage, there wasn't much hint as to what it did
with TWi LOGWi.
More help for this novice please?
:-)
