Please don't take any of this as negative. Speaking as an ex-marketing
exec, in an ideal world this would occur. But when a company doesn't
reprint, it's usually because they don't see the venture to be
profitable. The same feelings are probably true regarding the scanning
costs. The owners have to use their surplus funds where they will add the
most to the bottom line, whether for-profit or not-for-profit. If enough
people want the grammar bad enough to happily give the extra hours to
scanning, the project will be completed. Many of us who are either too
busy with other projects, or only moderately interested, will end up
benefiting as well. But, we who are on the sidelines shouldn't toss "money
wrenches" in the works by complicating the deal that has been already
made. We should be the greatest set of cheer-leaders any team of scanners
and proof-readers could ever imagine. Then, all will end up well.
