That is a very important article and one that not a few serious Greek
scholars have found pretty persuasive. Despite my skepticism about his
pushing "itacism" as far back as 5th and 4th centuries BC, I am inclined to
think that he's closer to the truth than is Sidney Allen's still dominant
view expressed in his _Vox Graeca_.
