I've just had an afterthought re. my earlier message.

Until recently, I was using an old Pentium 90 (that's right - 90!) running
Windows 95 on a dial-up connection. (This is because the kids
need/want/must have the newest computer to play zap the latest alien, and
Dad always gets the last-but-one one). Would this have been able to run
unicode-compatible programs? I know it couldn't run Firefox or Thunderbird,
or any Windows above 95 or maybe 98.

The computer I'm using now handles unicode all right, apart from Eudora.
The reason I'm bringing this up, though, is that the ASCII format means
that anyone, with any age of machine, can access the list.
