I am troubled by the word order in English translations of James 2:18.
It sounds exactly opposite of how it should read. “Yea, a man may say,
Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works,
and I will shew thee my faith by my works.” Could it be read thusly?

“A certain person will say (that another) man has faith, and I (James)
have works…”

If you could clarify this, I would appreciate it.

Yours truly,
John Fincher
