In regard to Paul's writing to Greek-speaking
congregations, you must remember that, dispite Paul's
words about preaching to the gentiles, many in the
early Christian congregations were either Jews or
proselites or "god-fearers."

REsponse

The point is one of language not faith orientation.
The congregations that Paul was writing when referring
to Peter as KHFAS would have recognized a term that
sounded like "drone". Without any explanation on the
part of the writer we are to assume that foregoing the
name PETROS acceptable Greek word and understood by
all, Paul chose another word that sounded like drone.
I find this peculiar to say the least. But I must say
that name calling was quite common among both Jews and
Greeks of the first century. There may be some other
explanation but for now it seems to me that name
calling is the most likely.
