Dear Don,
The problem is that the mentioned definition does not fit the data. I have a
list of 965 Hebrew perfects (perfective verbs) with future reference
(reference time comes after the deictic center). In the LXX many of the
Hebrew perfects are translated by aorists.
For example, Jeremiah 50:2,3 (27:2,3 LXX) have future reference (e.g. note
the Greek futures of TIQHMI and EIMI in v. 3 ). In these two verses we find
eight examples of Hebrew perfect with future reference. The LXX translated
three of these with aorist, one with perfect, and the rest were left
untranslated. Jude 1:14 is an example of an aorist with future reference.
Best regards,
Rolf
