[B-Greek] LXX Psalm 26 (27)

Not long ago, I was discussing this very topic in another forum. We compared
the LXX to the Hebrew form of the title (L at Da^WiD
[Lamed-Shewa-Daleth-Qamets-Waw-Hireq-Daleth]), "Of David" or "By David." Of
course, the LXX has a significantly expanded title: TOU DAUID PRO TOU
CRISQHNAI. In our discussion, we were hoping to find more information
regarding the source of the LXX's expansion of the Hebrew title. Can
extra-biblical Jewish sources elaborate on this expanded title? While I have
the Hebrew text, the Septuagint and the Vulgate, my resources are limited
when it comes to noncanonical Jewish writings. Does anyone know if more
information on this may be found from such sources?

<< Reception history simply assigned the psalm to the pre-coronation period
of David's life, when he was on the run from Saul. >>

Albert, would you please elaborate on/clarify what you meant by the
expression "Reception history"? I was guessing that you might be referring
to "Received" (i.e., "established") history. If so, would that speak to the
aforementioned extra-biblical Jewish sources?

Also, to what exactly does “before his anointing” refer? The Hebrew
Scriptures speak at least three times of David being anointed: 1 Samuel
16:13; 2 Samuel 2:4; 5:3. It doesn't make sense to me that the first
anointing by Samuel (at Bethlehem, 1 Samuel 16:13) is in view here. Either
the first or second anointing at Hebron is plausible to me (2 Samuel 2:4;
5:3). But of course, these scenarios assume the historical accuracy of the
expanded title, something I am not prepared to take at face value.
