This sort of error crops up from editing on the fly and not reworking all
the syntax before pushing the send button. Some bad habits aquired 25 years
ago working for an editor who wanted his writers to "sh-t paper" and leave
the polishing to a copy editors and production people. Bad habits once
aquired are hard to break.
