I might add just a witness to YHWH being used in the LXX. A few weeks ago in
class at The Master's Seminary, my OT professor, Dr. William Barrick, did put
up a picture in his PowerPoint presentation of a fragment or manuscript of the
LXX in which the Hebrew tetragrammaton was used instead of KURIOS. At the
time he stated that because of this he even presented a paper at an ETS meeting
(regional or national I don't remember) with the proposition that Bible
translators should render the tetragrammaton as "YHWH" and then let the reader decide
for himself and use his own discretion if he wants to read "Yahweh," "Lord,"
"Adonai," etc.
You may want to search the archives of ETS records or contact Dr. Barrick
about this.
