wishing the transliteration were our conventional one,
even though that is not obligatory), but I think that
he has left the original question raised by Charles
less than explicitly answered.
<doug>
it's true that the diagram doesn't explicitly answer
the question. however, TON hUION does not seem to be
the subject of the sentence and the hWi is
semantically subordinate to/nested within a different
participial phrase. for these reasons, i personally
think it is unlikely that TON hUION is the antecedent
to hWi. while as carl said that it is not impossible,
i cannot see a reason that would support/necessitate
this reading (other than imposing certain theologies
on the text). anyway, here is the diagram with the
suggested transliteration scheme:
POSW CEIRONOS TIMWRIAS | DOKEITE AXIWQHSETAI
hO
KATAPATHSAS -> TON hUION
TOU QEOU
KAI
hHGHSAMENOS -> TO hAIMA = KOINON
THS DIQHKHS
EN hWi hHGIASQH
KAI
ENUBRISAS -> TO PNEUMA
THS CARITOS
