I don't find your grammatical observations that
far-fetched. What lends support to the ongoing nature
of the event (GRAF-), even though it is portrayed with
a Perfect tense, would probably lie in the Lexical
Aspect of GRAFW. By itself, writing occurs over an
extended period of time. I'm not so sure that the
Grammatical Aspect cannot grammaticalize the process
having commenced (and the process having begun is now
in a state of completion), not the end result. Such an
idea doesn't strike me as odd.
