HALOT on WaW states that in older Hebrew WaW may be used to introduce
supplementary explanations. The LXX of Genesis isn't typically a
semantic rendering so WaW will normally be rendered KAI even when it
has an unusual semantic function. See also Wenham (Genesis WBC) on
this text/issue.
