[B-Greek] Commentaries: Cambridge Greek Testament: Luke

The "New Cambridge Bible Commentary" is the newer series, but
unfortunately they have not yet completed Luke. My experience with
Cambridge deals with their Classical commentaries. Their "green and
yellow" commentaries are written with the student in mind, and they have
been most helpful for me. The "orange" commentaries are written for the
scholar and advanced student, and I have found these most helpful when I
need a detailed, critical examination of a passage. I think Cambridge
attempted to combine the scholarly and the introductory material
together when they created their New Testament series, and the old one
does not contain Greek characters.
As George pointed out, the works designated as college helps can still
be quite useful, even if they are not the most scholarly. (I still wish
someone would translate Kuhner into English, so we native English
speakers would have access to a more scholarly Greek grammar!)
Yours,
Elliot Poe

>It appears that the Farrer work on Luke is in the Cambridge Bible for Schools and Colleges. The Cambridge Greek Testament series volume on Luke is by H. K. Luce. I'm not sure what is intended by the addition that it is for schools and colleges. I might note that, if you go to Perseus and look up Smyth's Greek Grammar, you will find that it is also listed as "A Greek Grammar for Colleges."
