Jacob,

Here is my translation of this verse:

*And the things you heard from me through many witnesses, these things you
begin to commit*[1]<http://mail.google.com/mail/?view=page&name=gp&ver=sh3fib53pgpk#_ftn1>
* to faithful men,*[2]<http://mail.google.com/mail/?view=page&name=gp&ver=sh3fib53pgpk#_ftn2>
* who shall be sufficient to teach
others*[3]<http://mail.google.com/mail/?view=page&name=gp&ver=sh3fib53pgpk#_ftn3>
* also.*

------------------------------

[1]<http://mail.google.com/mail/?view=page&name=gp&ver=sh3fib53pgpk#_ftnref1>
Greek
– *deposit *(verb form of word found in 1:12 and 14).

[2]<http://mail.google.com/mail/?view=page&name=gp&ver=sh3fib53pgpk#_ftnref2>
Greek
– *mankind* (both men and women)

[3]<http://mail.google.com/mail/?view=page&name=gp&ver=sh3fib53pgpk#_ftnref3>
Greek
– those of a *different nature*.
You must go to the context to determine the answer to your question. (Look
back in 1:13-14). Skip the parenthetical information of 1:15-18. Forget
about the chapter and verse divisions (they came much later than the first
century).

Yours in His service,

Marion R. Fox (incidentially - I am a man, not a woman, not that this
matters)
