KAI EN TWi NOMWi DE TWi hUMETERWi GEGRAPTAI.
I'm tempted to treat this as concessive, as in "Indeed, it is written in
your law" (because, after conceding that he needs two witnesses, he is going
to state his second witness in the next verse). Can anyone shed light on
KAI.DE constructions? I called up all the NT examples I could find using
GramCord and I can't see any obvious special meaning, other than maybe
"moreover".

For as in absolute governments the king is law, so in free countries the law
ought to be king; and there ought to be no other. (Thomas Paine)
