question is, would a sum at the bottom of each column for NT books be
a
reasonable rough indicator of the size (i.e. length) of that book in
Greek
words? If not, what is a better yardstick?

Yes, this will give you an exact number of words in each book.
I have updated the spreadsheet to include a row just beneath the book
titles that gives the word count for each book. I also deleted a column
after Revelation that I had used only for error checking.
Those who might want this additional data without having to send for
the spreadsheet again may do the following:
1. In cell D4 type or paste the following text: =SUM(D6:D5406)
When you move the cursor to another cell, the value 18346 should appear
in cell D4.
2. Copy cell D4 (select and Ctrl-C). The cell will appear highlighted.
3. Select cells E4 through AD4 (just under the remaining books of the
NT).
4. Paste (Ctrl-V). The word counts for each book should now appear
directly under the titles.
5. Also feel free to delete columns AE and AF, which are not relevant.
Those who prefer just to get a new copy of the spreadsheet may email me
again with the subject NTVocab (no spaces or extra characters of any
kind). An automatically generated reply will arrive shortly with the
spreadsheet attached.
Blessings in Christ! (Acts 3:26),
