HH: The text makes perfect sense with the standard translation if you
add the next verse:

2Cor. 1:15 Since I was sure of this, I wanted to come to you first, so
that you might have a double favor;
2Cor. 1:16 I wanted to visit you on my way to Macedonia, and to come
back to you from Macedonia and have you send me on to Judea.

HH: The double favor was spending time with Paul twice. This was Paul's
original plan, which he did not carry out because of things that came
up, but verses 15-16 are describing the original plan.

Yours,
Harold Holmyard
