In John Eadie's Commentary on the Greek Text of Paul's Letter to the
Ephesians he says on page 150 concerning Ephesians 2:8, DIA THS
PISTEWS, that the article before PISTEWS is "giving it a subjective,"
and "is best rendered, as Alfred says, by a possessive." I would have
expected the opposite. Why is it not, "By grace you are saved through
the faith" as in "through the gospel" (Eph.1:13 - the word of truth,
the gospel of your salvation), instead of "through your faith" as in
"through your believing" (also Eph. 1:13 - "having believed...").
