I invite everyone to do their own research on the pragmatic significance of the
placement of PAS in Greek. There are 1243 of them in the GNT, and this would be a nice MA thesis or
research paper. It should be set within a general framework of word order significance.
A smaller research could look at the 26 times that PANTA and TAUTA occur together. One would need to
be able to describe why PANTA sometimes occurs first, and why it sometimes occurs last.
Sorry to jump in, but I am a little skeptical about such a proposal.
First of all is assumes that the GNT as such is a sufficient research
base, which it hardly is. Aren't we talking about something like 130.000
words spread over at least 8 authors? Secondly, it assumes that this
phenomenon has equal meaning for each author at each occurrence.
On the upside, it is always worthwhile to go and check these things,
even if you arrive at a negative result.
Cheers,
Dirk
