Reality check here ...

Luke 5:

01 EGENETO DE EN TWi
TON OCLON EPIKEISQAI AUTWi
KAI AKOUEIN TON LOGON TOU QEOU
KAI AUTOS HN ESTWS PARA THN LIMNHN GENNHSARET,
KAI EIDEN DUO PLOIA ESTWTA PARA THN LIMNHN
OI DE ALIEIS AP AUTWN APOBANTES
EPLUNON TA DIKTUA

I assume that both OCLON and AKOUEIN are functioning to indicate
contemporaneous time as discussed in Funk:

> 836.1 The articular infinitive appears with prepositions in temporal
> clauses as follows: ἐν τῷ (EN TWi) and the infinitive are used of
> contemporaneous time, μετὰ τό (META TO) for subsequent time, πρὸ τοῦ
> (PRO TOU) for previous time, ἕως τοῦ (hEWS TOU) of future time, all in
> relation to the time of the main verb. Bl-D §§402-404.
>

Funk's examples show only one verb acting as an object of EN TWi this
way, but I assume that multiple infinitives can serve as objects to one
EN TWi, and that this is an example that functions that way? Here are
the notes I wrote on this - are they correct?

ἐν τῷ (EN TWi) + infinitive used for contemporaneous time, Funk 836.1,
Bl-D §§402-404. The two infinitives ἐπικεῖσθαι (EPIKEISQAI) and ἀκούειν
(AKOUEIN) are
objects of the ἐν τῷ (EN TWi) construction, the periphrastic imperfect
ἦν ἑστὼς (HN hESTWS) contains the main verb - "while they were crowding
around
him and listening to the word of God, he was standing by the sea
of Galilee ..."

Thanks!

Jonathan
