Hi Don,
 
According to my GRAMCORD, APOSTHI is third person,  single, aorist, active, 
subj; meaning to leave, go away; desert, commit  apostasy; keep away.  
 
Looks to me like Paul is asking God to keep it away or  to take it from him, 
whatever it is.  Personally I think the 'it'  is referring to his damaged eyes 
from the stoning he suffered.  I  would be interested in Carl's thoughts.
