I was also excited to see the new edition
because I have the second edition which
is a paper back and (1) has already started
to fall apart and (2) does not lie flat when
you open it and (3) seems heavy for a paper
back and feels uncomfortable in your hand
because you have to hold the thing open while
sort of grabbing it on the bottom. For this
reason I read it less than I would and you
can't really take it any where the way it sounds
like you can the new one which I am ordering right now.

As to the texts themselves, I can't imagine
better non-biblical Greek for NT Greek leaners
to read because the vocabulary overlaps a lot
and the texts quote both the OT and NT. In my
opinion, at least two of the texts (Didache and
Hermas) may be the only Greek in existence
which is EASIER than say the Gospel of John.
Plus as Carl says there is more challenging
  Greek as well.

this is so nicely done that it deserves a confirming Amen.
I was in the middle of reading a Plutarchian description of some obscure
general when my morning readings were rudely (smiile: irony)
interrupted by these apostolic Fathers. The layout is clean, clear and
inviting. Page wraps have been carefully planned, and the two different
numbering systems both appear at the top of the page. "leading", the
whitespace between lines, is comfortable, probably resulting from
the clarity of the font.
I am normally ambivalent toward golden ribbon bookmarkers,
but it is useful for holding back an English page.
the superthin paper (1000 ppi) is sufficiently opaque, yet the thinness
means that the whole book fits in the hand for true
'one-handed reading',
a delightful characteristic for 'lying on one's back looking up'.

We need to thank both Michael Holmes and James Ernest
(who handled this for Baker Academic) for their dedication
and commitment to produce such a well-designed volume.

Some of you may think that having an electronic version
is enough. electronic is great for searching. But you do want to read
and savor the language and map the thoughts of these documents.
For that you will gladly pay whatever you can to get one of these
hard copies.
Light, portable, readable, reliable, and capable of transforming
a Thanksgiving (US) into a feast.
