Apparently John replied to me personally with the correct citation of the passage so my reply went to him rather than to the list. I don't believe he would object to it's being posted so I am forwarding my reply to him to the list.

Since today I am having a problem with my e-mail program and am unable to use the Beta, I won't attempt to include the native Greek but will limit myself to the transliteration.
KAI SUNHXQHSAN hOI hUPATOI, TOPARXAI KAI ARXIPATRIWTAI KAI hOI FILOI TOU BASILEWS KAI EQEWROUN TOUS ANQRWPOUS EKEINOUS, hOTI OUX hHYATO TO PUR TOU SWMATOS AUTWN, KAI hAI TRIXES AUTWN OU KATEKAHSAN KAI TA SARABARA AUTWN OUK HLLOIWQHSAN, OUDE OSMH TOU PUROS HN EN AUTOIS
My electronic edition does not have the critical apparatus so I am guessing that in place of KATEKAHSAN you find hUPEKAHSAN in the variants. This is the same form as KATEKAHSAN, namely 3 pl aor pass ind from hUPOKAIW which differs as to its prepositional prefix. LSJ lists hUPOKAIW thusly
UPOKAIW,Att. KAW, burn by applying fire below, TINAS ZWNTAS D.S.20.71, cf. 19.108; burn underneath, OSTEA Hdt.4.61; CULA hU. TWi TRIPODI under the tripod, Anon.ap.Eust.1146.37; light sacrificial fires, cf. hUPOKLAIW.
2. light under, PUR Luc.Phal.1.11:Pass., Arist.Mete.355a17.
3. hU. LEBANTA, [KAKKABHN], light a fire under it, Gal.13.37, 6.707.
4. heat a bath, PFlor.127.4 (iii a.d.), PGiss.40 ii 19 (iii a.d.).
II. metaph. in Pass., hU. TINOS to be inflamed by love for .., Parth.12.1, 23.2; to be inflamed, FLUKTAINAI -OMENAI Ph.2.101.
Liddell, H. G., Scott, R., Jones, H. S., & McKenzie, R. (1996). A Greek-English lexicon. Oxford; New York: Clarendon Press; Oxford University Press.
Obviously the "Gal." in the LSJ citation cannot be the NT book of Galatians since that does not have 13 chapters. It is Galenus though I am uncertain regarding which of his works is referenced.

In my Rahlfs copy of the LXX (both Theodotion and the Old Greek) chapter 3 is numbered from verse 92 through 97. Also, in Hebrew chapter 3 only extends to verse 33 so I'm wondering what you are looking at. If you were to give a transliteration of the passage I might be able to locate your position.

In a variant in Daniel OG LXX 3:34, hUPEKAHSAN is found. I am not
familar with this word, and I have not had any luck looking it up. Is
it a scribal error and a word that does not exist? Thank you!
