What Greek text was used by the translators of the NIV New Testament? It was
basically that found in the United Bible Societies' and Nestle's printed
Greek New Testaments, which contain the latest and best Greek text
available.

When Hebrew or Aramaic names were transliterated into Greek, if they had
what sounded like a Greek type ending, they would be given some Greek type
inflection. Others, like DAUID, would simply remain indeclinable. This is
strictly from observation on my part -- I've never done a formal study, but
this is what seems to happen in both the LXX and the NT.
