This appears to be a message that has slipped through the cracks. If
it appears a second time ... then it will be like some other messages
that have been distributed twice recently.

Subject: Construction Question
Friends, I am trying to research a specific construction for the
"medial genitive" or "embedded genitive":
Construction: article[nominative] article[genitive] noun[genitive]
noun[nominative]
Are any of you familiar with anything written in this regard? Or that
might be helpful? Thanks!

Of the above construction I will only say that it is certainly common
in older Attic, less common, I think, in Koine; I note, for instance,
in the opening of Plato's Republic (327a): καλὴ μὲν οὖν
μοι καί ἡ τῶν ἐπιχωρίων πομπὴ ἔδοξεν
εἶναι ... [KALH MEN OUN MOI hH TWN EPICWRIWN POMPH EDOXEN
EINAI ... ]. When I was teaching Attic Greek I used to refer to this
common construction as "a noun sandwich." I confess, however, that I
never heard any other call it that.
