To all:

I really didn't mean to ask a question that was off topic to this list. It is just that I do have questions sometimes that I know some of the members on this list are overly qualified to answer. Sorry for this.

This time I added "OFFLIST RESPONSE." To be honest, sometimes I ask a question in which it is remarked that "this is a good question." Well, I'm as surprised as anyone when somebody says that about any of my posts!! And sometimes I'm not sure if it is offlist. I don't recall ever asking a question that I've not received more than one offlist response. For those at my level, this site is a gold mine.

I have this follow up, offlist question. Josephus mentions that the OT canon was limited to the 24 books (by Jewish reckoning) that comprise our 39 books (by Christian reckoning). And yet he also used the LXX, which contained, in his view anyway, books that were not canonical (although they are called recognized books of teaching). I'm wondering if the addition of the Apocrypha, which Jews rejected as canonical, might have contributed to the reason the Jews ultimately rejected the LXX.
