I'm happy to see this morning that Iver Larsen has joined Wayne Leman
and others that sustain a lively discussion of issues involved in translating
the Biblical text into languages of our day. Wayne has posted a nice
introductory statement about Iver:

and then Iver himself has posted an illuminating discussion of several of
the issues involved in understanding and translating the birth narrative of Luke 2

http://betterbibles.com/2009/12/31/challenging-translation-traditions-in-luke-2/

Among the issues discussed are the meaning of KATALUMA, as discussed
in this forum in recent days, and the question of the textual tradition,
the phrasing and intended meaning of PRWTH EGENETO
hHGEMONEUONTOSTHS SURIAS KURHNIOU.

For my part, I'm delighted to see that Iver will be contributing to BBBlog.
While I don't always agree with his judgments, I have always learned from
his discussios and appreciated his thorough consideration of issues.
