But Mark, we DO have such a textbook and have had it for decades. It's
"The Elements of New Testament Greek" in successive editions by Nunn,
Wenham and Duff. Its long insistence on no accents has either been
bitterly opposed or more often ignored. Its impact on Greek orthography
has been almost nil. In contrast, this text vigorously upholds all the
other orthographic conventions: iota subscript, diaeresis and especially
BOTH breathing marks.>
 
Hi Richard,
 
Sarah and Saffire and I are advocating the inverse of Duff, a text which
includes accents (and all other orthographic conventions) EXCEPT the
smooth breathing.  I'm open to the idea of getting rid of the accents too,
but am not yet prepared to argue for (or against) it right now.
