[B-Greek] You Are Smarter Than a Lexicon (?) The beat goes on...

Amen! Good preaching! Electronic resources can be a valuable tool, but
they can also make you think you know more than you do. If you think
that an electronic resource (or print one, for that matter) can replace
knowledge of the language, then you are deceiving yourself.

It is easy for a marketer to over-represent his/her product and tell the
public that it is the panacea for all evils (I wonder if it can stop the
oil spill?). No wonder there is that marvelous Latin phrase "caveat
emptor"--let the buyer beware!

There are more or less painful ways to learn a language, but all of them
require time--ask Randall, his is less painful, but still requires time.
You cannot learn a language in 5 minutes a day anymore than you can
loose 150 pounds exercising 5 minutes a day for a month. Anyone who
tries to tell you otherwise is selling snake oil.

But those who feel that they're beating their heads against the wall
trying to learn Greek would be better to rely on translations and
commentaries than to rely upon a predigested interpretation of what the
Greek and Hebrew texts mean.
