[B-Greek] Why the first sigma in akousthēsomai?

Hi, folks.

Can someone explain the rule behind the inclusion of the first sigma in the future passive forms of akouō, e.g., akousthēsomai? I’ve been reviewing Smyth’s grammar but cannot find (or recognize) the correct principle.

I’m newly returning to the B-Greek list and not sure whether the system is Unicode enabled. If it is, here’s the question with the Greek characters: Can someone explain the rule behind the inclusion of the first σ in the future passive forms of ἀκούω, e.g., ἀκουσθήσομαι?

Many thanks!
Andy
