Any particular nuances you find here derive from interpretation
of the context. The dative usage here is the age-old central sense
conveyed by the dative: the person (rarely the thing) whose
interest is involved in the action or process of the verb. If you
want subcategories that distinguish more sharply and precisely
the nuances, you'll have to go to Wallace's gramar -- but any
that he has are also derived from intepretation of the context.
