Chrys Caragounis reports on a new Greek Grammar which is using the HGP
(Historical Greek Pronunciation). He writes:
"Professor Dr Bradley H. McLean, of Knox College, Toronto
University, has written a new Grammar for learning New
Testament Greek. This book is well-written, unusually
pedagogical, lucid in its rules and explanations, and richer in
material and examples than any grammar I have seen. There is a
wealth of illustrations, making the pages attractive to the Reader.
A particular feature of this Grammar is that it has a Companion
volume-a Workbook-, in which the Reader is given the
opportunity to work in depth with the forms and syntax of the
New Testament.
Finally, a unique feature of this Grammar is that it is the first
New Testament Grammar that teaches the Historical Greek
Pronunciation, with audio recordings available. With this feature,
we finally have the Grammar we were waiting for, a Grammar
that will properly teach the language of the New Testament, as it
should have been taught, but has not been taught for almost five
hundred years, since Desiderius Erasmus made his unfortunate
mistake.
The Publishers, Cambridge University Press, are to be
congratulated that they took the long due step of offering to the
Student of the New Testament a Grammar worth its name. The
Grammar is expected to be available during this Summer."
