HI again. (I hate how my email often sends stuff when I am not finished, and often doesn't send stuff when I am finished.)
Here is the rest of the story. The question was asked by someone who may or may not have been trying to make a bigger issue of this than existed. He wanted to know the difference between this word and one in Hebrews 1:2. Well to be honest I couldn't find enough similarity between this word and any word in Hebrews 1:2 to make any kind of a comparison.
But I looked up the word APODEDEIGMENON, and of course found the following:
1) to point away from one's self, to point out, show forth, to expose to view, exhibit
2) to declare, to show, to prove what kind of person anyone is, to prove by arguments, demonstrate
in context, pointing out, declaring, proving, or approving by signs and wonders.
So I was reminded of Aaron and his staff that budded and produced almonds. The text in Numbers does not use this word. It simply relates a story without analysis or interpretaion. But could I rightly use the word APODEDEIGMENON to describe this event? Could I say something like AARON, APODEDEIGMENON APO TOU QEOU as high priest by the the sign of the fruitful staff?
Would it be appropriate to also describe this situation with this term? Is this a suitable illustration of the meaning of this word?

As Carl has already explained, it is necessary to include a transliteration of the Greek -- especially when the font you are using is not a unicode font. I have nevertheless taken a look at this. Since you have specified SOME particular word or other, I compared the two passages and found nothing particularly comparable between them unless it be solely the word σημεῖον SHMEION. In that case, while is is used to designate events considered miracles, it is more broadly any visible manifestation which gives an indication of something. In the book of Revelation, the entire work is said to be "signed" and consists of visions and auditions introduced by εἶδον EIDON or ἤκουσα HKOUSA.

Hi.
This is Ellen Adams (housewife), still alive and well. Happy New Year to all.
Someone at church asked about Acts 2:22
?????? ??????????, ???????? ???? ?????? ???????. ?????? ??? ?????????, ????? ??? ??? ???? ?????????????? ??? ???? ???????? ??? ?????? ??? ???????? ??? ??????? ??' ????? ? ???? ?? ???? ????, ????? ??? ????? ??????,
They particularly wondered what ?????????????? meant. Instead of defining the word, I described it by citing the Old Testament example of Aaron's rod budding? Is that a good example?
Anyone have a better way to explain it?
