This is perhaps unknown to many on this list, but the Summer Institute of
Linguistics (Wycliffe Bible Translators) has a small book addressing each of
Paul's usages of the term "in Christ." It was apparently published as an aid
to translators (as are most of SIL's works) to suggest based on context how
to best translate each occurrence of the phrase so as to properly convey what
Paul meant each time he used the phrase. I haven't studied it in depth, but
for the price it's certainly worth acquiring.
