A K M voiced my own concern regarding "neutral" interpretation or translation.
I, too, would rather not enter a shouting match on-list, but it would be
helpful to know who's interested in the conversation.
Like A K M, I don't believe in "neutral" interpretation, and I am aware that
any categorical distinction between more and less neutral interpretations will
not stand up to analysis. From a pragmatic (not manipulative!) perspective,
however, I wonder whether he might agree that it is often helpful to make such
distinctions to nuance our own work.
