Rod,

This sounds peculiar to me; how then would one accou for the hortatory
subjunctive? If we take your source at face value, we ought to be able to
generate a sense of the main verb's subordination to some other verb. And
what would it mean for therb to be "attitude-less" a simple hortatory
construction? Wouldn't its distinction from indicative/imperative/optative
moods imply some kind of attitude?
