Wholly off topic question, but I wonder if anyone on the List can help
me with something that I received from a friend re: knots on the garments
of Mary in paintings of her. Is this the rosary?.

I have a question from one of our docents. She is trying to research knots on
the garments of the Virgin Mary, (in particular) and other saints.
She keeps insisting that the knot holding together the garments esp.
the gown of Mary is of a cetain type and feels it could be symbolic
of something. As far as traditional art historical iconography and
symbolism, there is no mention of a particular kind of knot. Any
reference off hand in your mind about knots?

Off List replies please!

Thanks,
