Carl,

Now I see what you are doing and it is not etymology. I was a little
confused earlier by your introduction of DEOUSIN into the discussion but not
it is clear.

Enoch is a book full of NT echoes (intertextual links). Since my last post I
was working in 1Enoch 9:1ff

9:1 Tote parakuyantes Micahl kai Ourihl kai Rafahl kai Gabrihl, outoi ek tou
ouranou eqeasanto aima polu ekcunnomenon epi ths ghs. 9:2 kai eipan pros
allhlous fwnh bowntwn epi ths ghs mecri pulwn tou ouranou.

And the expression: EQEASANTO AIMA POLU EKCUNNOMENON EPI THS GHS
not only sounded very Old Testament but also reminded me of the judgment of
Babylon in the Apocalypse of John 16:5-6 (R-P MajText)

KAI HKOUSA TOU AGGELOU TWN UDATWN LEGONTOS
DIKAIOS EI O WN KAI O HN O OSIOS
OTI TAUTA EKRINAS OTI AIMA AGIWN KAI PROFHTWN EXECEAN
KAI AIMA AUTOIS EDWKAS PIEIN AXIOI EISIN

Lots of familiar stuff in 1Enoch.

Thanks for the help Carl,

Greetings to everyone,

Clay
