Recent photo of Fort Independence and Castle Island that confirms the photo on the left is Boston Harbor.
Photo possibly from the deck of the Madawaska Victory, September 12, 1945, as it was entering Boston Harbor with the 45th Infantry Division, including the 45th Signal Company.

The sign on the tugboat reads "Welcome Home Well Done".

Fort Independence on Castle Island is visible in the center to upper left background. In the lower left a line of men with garrison caps appear to be leaning a deck railing.
