1942:

4th Port goes to Halifax, Canada aboard the ship Aorangi.


U.S. Army Signal Corps units served in Newfoundland as part of the war against Nazi submarines in the Atlantic, and intercepting Nazi radio signals (signals intelligence).

The 816th may staged through Halifax on their way to construct signal facilities for those activities or for the port facilities to supply the U.S. troops stationed in Newfoundland.

1943:

July 8: Departed the New York Port of Embarkation the RMS Aquitania.

July 15: Arrived at Gourock, Scotland.

Served at the Port of Liverpool as part of the Fourth Port.

1944:

 May 7:
Kirkby England to Ludlow to Southhampton, England

June 9:
Embarks for France,

June 12, 2 PM: Lands on Utah Beach

Speculation: Constructs communications facilities for port facilities at Utah Beach until the liberation of Cherbourg.

July 6: Deployed to Cherbourg until Nov. 11 1945.

Awarded Meritorious Unit Commendation for the period June 12 - December 11, 1944.

After the end of the war in Europe, ComZ, Army Service Forces continued to provide supplies and services to the U.S. troops on occupation duty in Germany.

Dec. 10: Part of the UnitDeparts for the U.S.,

December 23: Arrived.
