Introducing one of many outstanding speakers at the 2005 IFMSA-USA National Convention
Dr. Donald Henderson Dean Emeritus of the Johns Hopkins University School of Hygiene and Public Health, Johns Hopkins University Distinguished Service Professor, Professor of Medicine and Public Health at the University of Pittsburgh and Center for Biosecurity at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center.
He was one of the pivotal figures in smallpox eradication at the WHO and continues to be a leader in international health, public health, and bioterrorism. Immediately after the 9/11 attack, Dr. Henderson was appointed as the government's first Director of the Office of Public Health Emergency Preparedness. He continues to serve as senior science advisor to Secretary Thompson of the Department of Health and Human Services and as Chair of the Secretary's Council on Public Health Preparedness.

Sharing Solutions
Study Abroad Programs
Each year over 6000 medical students from over fifty countries participate in IFMSA study abroad programs. Founded in 1951, these international exchanges allow students to share solutions clinical and research problems.

The medical profession has an obligation to society as community teachers and fighters for reproductive health and rights all over the world.

International Events
IFMSA 55th meeting in Ohrid, Macedonia
August 3-9, 2004
Twice a year, the delegations of the National Member Organizations of IFMSA meet at the IFMSA General Assemblies. The March Meeting and the August Meeting bring together several hundred medical students from all around the world. Most recently, IFMSA-USA sent delegations to General Assemblies in Estonia, Taiwan, Yugoslavia and Denmark.
