Step 6, Database system implementation, consists of entering data and maintaining the DBMS. This database was implemented effective June 1, 1999, and is used to generate invoices and reports for student athletes.

Monitoring and evaluation of the DBMS is ongoing.

The database design process is comprised of the following steps*:

Step Description
1 Requirements collection and analysis
2 Conceptual database design
3 Choice of a DBMS
4 Data model mapping (also called logical database design)
5 Physical database design
6 Database system implementation
