North Carolina Pulled Pork Barbecue Joints |
Wilber Shirley got this joint started in 1962, and since that time he has served his barbecue to two United States presidents. This joint cooks split halves of 60-90 pound hogs in the eastern North Carolina style over oak coals in closed pits. The finishing sauce is a sharp vinegar-and-pepper concoction. If you were given two chances in a lifetime to taste North Carolina pulled pork barbecue, this would have to be one of the two joints you might want to choose. Wilber's also serves up a mighty fine breakfast. And, since they are open from 6:00 in the morning until 9:00 at night, you can enjoy Wilber's barbecue morning, noon, and night! Just make certain you get there before they run out. When it's gone, it's gone and they simply hang up a sign that sez, "Out of Barbecue". ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
