Project Links Interface Designer
Interface Designer/Multimedia Synthesizer
The ID/MS is responsible for taking a high-level view of the Project Links interface, setting standards, and maintaining aesthetic consistency across modules and projects. The ID/MS considers the needs of Project Links end users, develops the Project Links interface, and then communicates the stylistic and formal conventions of its information architecture, usability, and "look and feel" to content developers and HTML programmers. The ID/MS looks for ways to increase the functionality and interactivity of Project Links modules by integrating multimedia elements and taking advantage of web technology to teach students college-level science and math with the techniques of guided discovery and constructivism.
Responsibilities include:
- Meeting with development teams to explain the interface and helping content people develop and organize information for the modules in ways that are consistent with the interface;
- Overseeing HTML development of modules;
- Integrating multimedia elements (video, interactivity elements, graphics, sound) into the modules;
- Expanding the functionality and interactivity of Project Links modules;
- Designing and implementing interface elements globally;
- Maintaining the style sheets (CSS) for Project Links;
- Resolving cross-platform and cross-browser usability issues;

- Establishing alpha and beta testing standards;
- Maintaining consistency across modules and projects in Project Links.
Qualifications & Skills needed:
- Strong HTML skills, including experience with style sheets;
- A background in interface design, human-computer interaction, or software usability;
- Editing, graphic design, and some multimedia development experience.
- An exceptional attention to detail and strong communication skills.
- A background in educational technology and knowledge of JavaScript a plus.
