Re: [nafex] Doughnut peach

Hi David:

Novice classification is me at it's purest sense and that's why I trust the
sage and savvy wisdomites in this organization.
Have learned more here in one year than 20 yrs of fumbling & bumbling.
Ed & Jim both have enlightened me to the fallacy in dwarfstock and peaches
and your glowing endorsement as to doughnut on citation is all I have to hear
along with all the other accolades that have been reported in this thread.
Now if only Jim or Ed say they will be getting some next year on citation or
nema, I'll order yesterday! <g>
I know Tenn is cold where Donna lives. Where you are Mississippi is cold
enough for the chill hours for the doughnut obviously?
I did a re-read of David's' report on dwarfing rootstocks in which he worked with
St. Julien, citation & the sand cherry with Reliance and goes on to say how he
had/has success with citation but with sand cherry he seems to have a high mortality
due to canker, x-disease & injury from winter and still had questions.
I wonder why, with the demand being so high for dwarf anything from the full
spectrum of growers, that more research and trials are not being done or any
releases being introduced to satisfy this fervor, puzzling?
BTW,
No local nurseries in my general area have or have heard of doughnuts.....
Thanks for the input, David.

Best wishes,
Gianni
