I'm surprised no one here mentioned the brewer design in the experiment. The=
paper makes note of a brewer design per an Elaine Ingham design from 2000.=
Is that the Taunton Press Kitchen Garden Magazine article? If so, the mode=
l for the experiment would be a 5 gallon bucket and aquarium pump bubbler w=
ith air stones. When the article appeared, I tried making a brewer of simil=
ar specs and it made several noxious brews before I gave it up. The result=
s for me have since been quite different with a commercial machine that pro=
vides a lot of air and that is easily cleaned.

The chosen brewer design seems to me much more significant than the laborat=
ory procedures used to reach the paper's conclusions.

It’s easy to be critical of someone else’s work. Bear in mi=
nd that this person may be young and, have little knowledge, but have an in=
quisitive mind. So instead of criticising their work, why don’t we =
rather try and encourage them and give them pointers to try. Let’s =
engage them and get them to join the group. Some on this list serve have lo=
ts of skills and knowledge. So let’s help those who have an interes=
t in ACT instead of trying to blow them out of the water. Learning is a pro=
cess, and it must start somewhere.
