Urea, ammonium nitrate and round up are not approved for use in organic
farming, that said, Ammonium Nitrate is a food for certain microbes in the
soil, the question is are they the microbes that you want to support in a
healthy soil food web, probably not

Subject: [compost_tea] synthetic fertilizer and soil microbes

Hi,
My question is similar to the one asked about Roundup. Does anyone have any
info in regards to the affect that Ammonium Nitrate has on soil life? Also
are there any synthetic fertilizers i.e.(10-10-10) that can be used in turf
and nursery industry etc. that will not have an adverse affect on the
microbes.

Thanks,
Greg
