Re: [compost_tea] Re: Organic Blueberry growers
I hypothesize that the most effective action of compost tea in regards to u=
sing it on a crop like blueberry, would be to make compost for AACT that i=
s similar to the growing environment for this particular crop (in this case=
blueberry). Blueberry is exceptional in one way, in that is ericaceous. Th=
at would mean making a compost of materials that would create the suitably =
acidic environment of the compost. I would think that might be pine needles=
, bark, oak leaves and wood, certain mineral dusts, and whatever else grows=
in a similar environment.
I think you would need to host the organism profile that you are after in t=
he compost for tea making. I'm not sure of the percentage of the total spec=
ies, but the ericoids make up a very small percentage of total plant specie=
s. You might not find the key players for disease suppression for your part=
icular blueberry problem outside of that acidic environment. However, natur=
e has many buffering mechanisms, or else we would all be dead.
Just a thought.

Just one observation from our use. Our ACT is Ph neutral and it's use will =
eventually change the Ph of the soil back to an alkaline state.
Not sure if there is an answer, but we've stopped using it for the time bei=
ng, as our Ph is out of wack for blueberries.

ith tea; the idea being to immunize the system against the mummy berry.
