[compost_tea] Sea Minerals as a Food Source
Hi All,
I am planning on running a brew using sea minerals as a food. My rationale =
is that by having the minerals become part of the bodies of the bugs I will=
make them more bioavailable and less leachable once they are in the soil. =
My crop is a grass pasture for grazing cattle, so I am making a soil innocu=
lant rather than a foliar spray. I apply the tea at 150l/Ha from a boomjet =
nozzle.
Following is the breakdown of the sea mineral product and the recommended d=
osage rates.
Analysis
Magnesium .................Mg ............................10% w/v
Potassium ................. K ............................ 2.6%
Sulphur ................... S ............................ 3.02%
Sodium .Na ........................... 1.84%
Sulphate ................. SO4 ......................... 9.04%
Plus trace minerals Iodine, Bromine, Molybdenum, Boron,
Lithium, Iron, copper, Zinc, Manganese and including up to
a total of 70 minor trace elements and rear earth minerals .
Field Crops
Soil - apply 15 l/ha pre plant.
Foliar - Apply 5-10l/ha at early-tillering - dilute concentrate at least 10=
:1
If no pre plant applied
Apply 5l/ha foliar at 2-3leaf growth and again 3-4 weeks later or earlytill=
ering
Can be applied with herbicides or fungicides (jar test first)
Pasture, Lucerne and Fodder Crops
Soil - apply 15 l/ha pre plant.
Foliar - Apply 5-10l/ha at 3-4 weeks after emergence
Then 5lts/ha following each cut or feeding off.
dilute concentrate at least 10:1
If no pre plant applied
Apply 5l/ha foliar at 2-3leaf growth and again 3-4 weeks later
Can be applied with herbicides or fungicides (jar test first)
Orchards and Vines
Apply via fertigation or boom spray at 15l/ha prior to budburst or early
spring.
Foliar sprays: 5-10l/ha. Diluted 100:1 i.e. a 1% solution.
Apply from first fully expanded leaf then up to 5 applications 3-4 weeks
apart.
Turf, Golf Courses and Bowling Greens.
Apply 15l/ha pre-plant or at renovation.
Foliar - Apply 5l/ha every 8-10 weeks. Follow application with irrigation.
Dilute concentrate at least 10:1
Best applied early morning or evening DO NOT apply when temperature is
above 300C
DO Not apply more than 50l/ha in any one year
I look forward to any suggestions.
